Carbonated Soft Drink Ultra-Light Bottle Creates A World Record In Weight Loss
The Sidel StarLiteTM range of bottle bottom solutions is a new addition to the latest StarLite UltraLight solution for lightweight carbonated soft drinks (CSD).
The new UltraLight CSD bottle bottom is designed to significantly reduce the amount of raw materials needed to produce PET bottles. Laurent added: “Compared to the 13.5 gram traditional CSD bottle, the bottom of the bottle is optimized for a 25% reduction in packaging weight, which generally helps reduce production costs while ensuring the quality of carbonated beverages.”
The traditional 500 ml short shelf life CSD bottle weighs 13.5 grams, while the StarLite UltraLight CSD ultra light bottle weighs only 10.5 grams. The traditional 1.5L bottle is usually 28 grams, and the bottle with the bottom of the bottle weighs only 24 grams.
In addition, the Sidel StarLite UltraLight solution can be combined with the innovative CSD finish design, which is a 26/22 bottle with a weight of only 2.3 grams, a thread diameter of 26 mm, an inner diameter of 21.7 mm and a height of 13 mm.
According to the CETIE (International Bottle and Related Packaging Technology Center) reference data, the bottle can be used with the new Novembal bottle cap (Novasoda 26/22 carbonated beverage bottle cap). This padless, integrated cap is durable and sealed to ensure the quality of the beverage and can be easily and safely used, opened and re-closed.
Sidel’s new StarLite UltraLight CSD bottle bottom reduces the amount of PET used in bottle production, significantly reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
For example, for a 500 ml bottle, if a new bottle is used with a new bottle, the total cost of PET saved in the middle of the year will be 1,125,000 euros. For the 1.5-liter bottle, the savings are even more significant, and the average annual PET cost savings in production is €1,530,000.
